Rain

It's raining...again.  We are flooded...again. It's been a crazy morning spent in the company of pails, brooms, noisy vaccums and dreams of dry, hot summer days.

So, with rolled up pants, messy hair and cold, wet toes I will rest for a while. The rain has tapered off but the grounds are so saturated the water keeps on filtering through. It will be a while till we go back to normal. I believe I'll have a large glass of wine (any color will do) and try not to listen to the sound of raindrops on the roof and in my head...

"I opened my eyes
And looked up at the rain,
And it dripped in my head
And flowed into my brain,
And all that I hear as I lie in my bed
Is the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.

I step very softly,
I walk very slow,
I can't do a handstand--
I might overflow,
So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said--
I'm just not the same since there's rain in my head"

  1. Rain here, too, Alina. I think the April showers have come early. Oh but the daffodils are revealing their golden faces and this always makes me smile. What a lovely photo and poem! Bright wishes to you. xx

  3. It's been pouring rain up here too and there's been a flood watch for Vermont through today but we're way up on a hill. Ironically, the side of our house that is on the uphill is always trickling water through our basement. There is a drain in the other side but it was completely clogged with roots and poor Tom had a day that sounds just like yours. His toes were frozen and damp too. The good side is that our brown world is starting to tinge green. It may have been pouring for three days but the birds have been singing the entire time!

I hope your spring comes quickly (and I don't mean the gushing type!)

    Love, Katy

  4. We have had loads of rain today and my happy spring thughts have evaporated into sogginess! I like nice gentle rain - but this! Still at least everything is turning a lovely shade of green. Hope it stops raining for you soon and the sun makes an appearance!

  5. I'm sorry to hear you are flooded again! (Reminds me of the time I left the bath taps running upstairs - but that's another story). Wine definitely sounds like a very good idea x

  7. Isn't it amazing that some places are wishing for rain and other places need it to stop. Hope the weather gets better soon for you!

    Warm thoughts,

  8. Raining here in England and we are off to our little caravan tomorrow. Who cares about the weather, we are snug under our pile of quilts, with the rain drumming comfortingly on the roof. My 2 dogs, my Man and several large bars of chocolate, perfect!

  10. Wow,I've been watching the weatherman and can't believe how much you've been hit with this year! I hope it clears up soon and gives you a break. We've had a wetter than normal year too, but not like the northeast. Sending you some sun from here~

  11. Hello everyone!

Just wanted to let you know the insurance company came around today, water has dried leaving behind a lingering musty smell which hopefully will vanish as soon as we have several days of full sunshine. It's been a nuisance but luckily, we are all okay and the damages have been minimal.

Your comments and wishes are SO appreciated. Thank you!

(TGR, I think your poem is great! :0)

Albert Schweitzer said "In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit" I thank you all!
