Trouble in Paradise

I was hoping the Allergy Monster would forget about me this year. I tiptoed around the house and spoke softly trusting IT would not find me. We've been playing hide and go seek for a while but I was no match. I've been caught!

I lay in misery with teary eyes, a swollen red nose, feeling VERY cranky. Based on past experiences, and regardless of all the medication I take, this will probably go on till the beginning of May when all of the sudden I will get up one morning and like magic, the Monster will be gone.

Blue skies, blooming trees, tulips and daffodils everywhere...sigh...

Powerful words

Last night I could not fall asleep so I decided to give television a try. There I was, flipping through the different chanels, searching (in vain) for something worth watching.  I paused on PBS for moment when I heard the following:

"Who you are and where you are from should never stand in the way of what you believe"

I was struck by the simplicity of the slogan and it's profound message. In just eighteen words an advice that, if followed, could totally and radically change anyone's world. It got me thinking about the incredible strength that could be found inside each one of us. I thought of all the ordeals the human race has endured through history. Wars, persecutions, plagues, hunger, natural disasters and yet, through sheer will and determination people continued down the path laid down before their eyes. Amidst tragedy and pain extraordinary works of art were created, heavenly music was written. Hearts did not stop beating and clinging to hope.

As I finally drifted off to sleep I felt comforted and moved by those words, perhaps because  I am an incurable romantic, a woman who has been jokingly diagnosed to have "the Peter Pan Syndrome" a hopeless dreamer who constantly roams the hallways of Make Believe Castle.

To all who are strong enough to continue moving forward and dream I say, here's to believing!
