"Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird.
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the word.
Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
born of one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's recreation of the new day"
Lyrics by Eleanor Farjeon
Don't you just feel like that? You jump out of bed and there it is: LIFE! I must confess that back in the those days when night life was alive (if you know what I mean) getting up early was almost a punishment, something old people did. My father, a man for whom 5 hours of sleep was more than enough, tried to make me see what I was missing. He claimed early morning was the best part of the day. It wasn't until I had my children and those early feedings were the alarm clock I could not ignore that I realized my Dad was right. The peace, the silence, the way the body feels soft and tender, untouched yet by the stress, the rush, the noise, and all those mundane duties that numb our senses and stiffle our dreams. Father knows best...
On this beautiful morning I want to thank my dear, sweet friend Vicki from Vicki's Bit O'Earth for having bestowed upon me this very special Award:
"This Award is for those who are brave enough to expose
just enough to reach, touch and possibly help someone
else to see something differently.
I pass this Award on to:
Sheila Deeth from Sheila Deeth Drabbles
Sheila calls her daily poems "drabbles." Truth is, they are moving and beautiful. I am always amazed by her non-stop and ever flowing inspiration.

If you love gardening, beautiful babies, chickens, and great recipes you will love Vicki's place! I thank you Vicki! It really means a lot that you thought of me :0)
I also want to send a very special THANK YOU to Kiki for dedicating her June 3rd post and poem to me! Kiki is the creator of Awake with Charm and Spirit and Heart of a Wizardess. Her photographs are just magical. She captures light and shadows and gives the illusion of movement and life to everything. I will be joining Kiki to celebrate The Birth of June and Summer Solstice Magic, hope you will too! I'm not sure how this "linking business" works so please visit her at Awake with Charm and Spirit for more information. Kiki, thank you for your talent, your visits, your comments and for being such a great friend.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend. May sunshine, love, and birdsong fill your days. xoxo

Congrats on your award. Oh, gosh, you and I have been thinking alike lately. I was remembering those old days when I either hung out late or worked late and listened to others as they walked past my window on my way to work....all of those wonderful mornings that I missed.

I am amazed to see my blog with the picture of my husband Buzz right next to this comment section. Thank you, thank you for keeping life alive for me. I really forget to "smell the roses" in my headlong dash to "get everything done." Hsve you read the poetry of Ranier Maria Rilke, as translated by Robert Bly? He says, in his A Book for the Hours of Prayer:
ReplyDeleteIt is Sunday and in the valley I am
a jubilant Jerusalem.
He goes on:
I lay in the twilight of harps
and breathed in the evening star.

Do you print out your Blog? I just did the last six pages of mine and will put it away for future descendants.
I must say ~ I have always enjoyed the early mornings. The quiet, the newness, the brightness of the day ahead! Fantastic photo to go with the poem. Congratulations on your award!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a truly wonderful weekend Alina!

ReplyDeleteYour dad WAS right. I wish that I wasn't so tired. I am getting up at 5:00/5:30 every morning to let the puppies out and I've seen so much glory. I want to stay awake BUT back to bed for me to see if I can snatch another hour. Coffee anyone???
ReplyDeleteOne of my most favourite of songs. I so remember those days of night times, then babies. now when i wake up early (naturally) it fills me with happiness. congratulations on your award x x
ReplyDeleteAlina me gusta mucho tu blog. Quedé encantada con la imagen de la ventana. Es hermosa , delicada y va muy bien.
ReplyDeleteTe deseo un lindo día
Oh wow! Thank you Alina. You're so kind.
ReplyDeleteI've been away helping my son move house (and letting the drabbles post themselves). Back to real life now, and only ninety emails to go. The washing's nearly finished at least...
I love that song. So lovely to read it today, and thank you for reminding me to enjoy the morning and the day.
A lovely post, Alina, and I so agree. Mornings have a special energy of their own, and provide such beautiful moments. Bright wishes, dear one. xx
ReplyDeleteI am not a morning person! When my daughters were younger, I will admit, sitting outside in the early morning hours, watching the sunrise, the birds wakening was all very glorious. I still feel the same way. I have tried to be a morning person, but its just not in me. I love the night, I love when everyone else is asleep, and the world outside has shut down. there are no sounds, except the crickets, owls. I feel this is my time, when I can get the most done. But I do agree that morning has the most beauty!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your award, you definitely deserve it my dear friend!
