A lovely surprise

Well, it's Friday, and for those of us living in the US we are celebrating Memorial Weekend. This is also the official beginning of Summer. Beaches in New Jersey will open and that peculiar wonderful sense of informality provoked by warm, sunny days, will take hold of everyone. Summers are short up here so every minute counts!

I am getting ready to go visit our Garden Center but before I "bury" myself in the garden I wanted to thank my dear friend Catherine for bestowing upon me the Versatile  Blogger Award.  Thank you Cath! I just love it!!

Catherine is a lovely lady with an incredible talent to capture life with her camera.  Please visit her at Corner's of Cat's Mind and see for yourself.

In order to keep this Award circulating the following rules must be obeyed:

Rule 1. Thank the person who gave it to you.
Rule 2. Share 9 things about yourself.
Rule 3. Pass the Award along to 9 bloggers who you think are fantastic.
Rule 4. Contact Blog Award winners.

So, here it goes, nine things about myself...

1-I get nervous when crossing a bridge.

2-I am shy and my favorite table at a restaurant is the one tucked away in a quiet corner.

3-I am afraid of spiders and snakes. I know, I’m “such” a girl! :0)

4-I don’t care at all for diamonds or gold but LOVE silver and custom jewelry.

5-I own over 100 pairs of earrings most of which are “gypsy looking” you know the kind, loops and beads and dangling things, totally Bohemian. I NEVER leave the house without making sure I have earrings on, I just love them!

6-I hate western movies, well, all except the ones with Clint Eastwood ;)

7-I don’t like opera.

8-I’ve never been to the theater.

9-I seriously wish to own a real gypsy caravan which of course, would have to be purple!

That wasn't too hard, the tricky part is to try and pick only nine out of all my wonderful friends, but rules are rules, right?

1- Mary at Moontides- Mary describes herself as an "urban pagan" and her blog is a very interesting Diary of her daily observations as she tries to survive living in the Big Apple.

2-Tina at Carousel Dreams- Tina is an incredible artist who lives "down under." Her blog is full of magic and great photos of visits to wonderful places.

3-Andi at Andi's English Attic-Andi visits beautiful and interesting places and never fails to make me smile.

4-Paulette at Beedeebabee-Paulette is a sweet super talented lady. Her creations will surely amaze you!

5-Becca at Patina Moon-Becca's Blog is just beautiful (and so are her cats :0) Her photographs are incredible.

6-Natalie at Reading up a Storm-Natalie is an amazing lady who describes herself as "being 81 but feels 18"---How wonderful is that?!

7-Kelly at When Nature Speaks, Do You Listen?-I just recently met Kelly but I truly feel as if I had known her for a long time. If you love Nature you MUST visit her blog. Her photographs are a work of art!

8-Sherrie at A Vintage Affaire-Sherrie is an avid collector and is now busy getting ready her very own workshop.

9-Kiki at Heart of Wizardess-what can I say about Kiki? She is an amazing spirit and her camera is like her "third eye" A visit to her Blog will not be forgotten!

Well, it's done. I hope you all have fun and not feel pressured to do this. No need to explain or apologize if you decide to skip the Award.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend full of magic and peace, and thank you for coloring my world!

  8. Thanks so much for the award. I've given a quick thought to my nine things. I think I'll be revising the list though, as a couple are very weird and might just lose me some visitors! xx

  9. Sweet Alina ~ I too get nervous crossing bridges and don't much care for opera either! :) Thank you for playing along ~ it's always so fun learning more about our blogger friends.

I hope you have a terrific weekend and I hope you had fun at the Garden Centre ~ love it!
    xo Catherine

  10. I LOVE that you get nervous crossing bridges, that's so real & a wonderful thing to find out about you friend!! Congrats on your blog award & I hope you & your family have a Wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!!!

  11. Congratulations on your award..!
It is a very nice way of knowing..being sincere.
¿ To joke on one itself ? En español " reirse de uno mismo " No sé si me he perdido en la traducción.. Sorry !! XX

  12. I'm scared to death of crossing bridges, too and, BOY, do we have some around here. Oddly, I've gotten used to, and love, crossing the "Bridge of Death." I'm sure that I'll blog about it one day. I really, really am shy, too. REALLY! I've been so outgoing lately that, it's all I can do to keep me from running and poking my head in the sand. AND (you'll never believe this one), for the most part, I hate opera, too! No joke! I know that I'm an opera singer - it's a love/hate thing. I hate the ridiculousness of it. But, Alina, there are some seriously gothic operas and some serious gypsy characters! (and, I'm not just talking about Carmen.) The arias, sung by the right person, are HEAVEN! Doing an opera is super fun (except for the subopera in the dressing rooms).

Well, anyway, congratulations on your award! I have been so impressed with your insight as you pick your photo images and with your ability with words. I just want to encourage you. I love your posts and your blog!

    Love, Katy xo

  13. Congratulations on your well-deserved award Alina. You have shared some interesting facts about yourself here - its funny you know, I really thought you would have loved opera?! Totally agree about the earrings and the gypsy caravan!!

Hope you are enjoying your quality time in the garden oh and a belated Happy Memorial Day:)

Have a lovely evening Alina ~ sweet dreams! :)
    xo Catherine

  16. I totally knew you would have Bohemian style Gypsy-ish earrings. It fits. Perfect.
Hope you enjoyed your garden :)

  17. Dear Alina,

Now, I just bet that you like a good mysterious path, too. could be wrong, but.... When I was little, I was always getting lost. If I saw a path, I was off down it in two seconds flat with no word to anyone. One time, I was "lost" in Descanso Gardens for over an hour. I was very young. I don't remember being scared but I DO remember the tunnel through the hedge and the paths going around the rose gardens and the arbours. My mom says that when they did find me, I was happily wandering down the paths. I don't think she realizes what she's been saying all these years - the deep truth of it.

Yes, I really like this new button. The last image was pretty but I couldn't really see it. It's loveliness didn't read as well. This one has a touch of gypsy fierceness (the forehead Temple) but softness because of the colors, The hair is really beautiful and there's a really good sense of positive/negative space. Plus, it's just plain pretty, if you don't mind me saying......

    Love, katy xo

  18. I just thought to go and look in my followers mosaic to see it in miniature form. It's GORGEOUS! It reads wonderfully, so pretty and unique - that's the tough one to get - unique.

  19. Well done, you deserve the award!!! Your blog is so beautiful and I really enjoy your posts. Thanks for popping by and I love your new blog button!!! Have a great weekxxxxxx

  20. Congratulations on your much deserved award Alina! I just adore gypsy caravans too, and have collected snippets, articles and photos of real ones(mostly from British magazines). I have a secret dream to have one... out back of the house... all decorated in red, deep browns , burgundy and purple and smelling of bees wax, herbs and spices. Sigh... (: xxVicki

Thank you for your words on my post~ You are right... I've been so busy (not by choice)and have only had moments here and there to get around to my favorite blogs... and even then I've pretty much read only the most recent posts, so missed the lovely award you sent to me. ):` Thank you thank you dear Alina~ I so love reading your words and enjoying the images you post. I will definitely pass it on to others. xxVicki

  21. Hi Alina! I'm so sorry I've been MIA in blogland lately. I hope to post something (anything) soon! It seems the longer I'm away, the harder it gets, so I'd better get a move on! Congratulations on your beautiful award, you have such a lovely blog, and I love the things you write and the pictures you post...so does a friend of mine who doesn't have a blog of her own. ... You have 100 pairs of earrings! OMG!!! You go girl! Anything with Clint is always good, and he made one handsome cowboy!... You were so sweet to include me in with these special ladies you're passing your award to. Thank you so, so much! Sending a GIANT hug! xoxo Paulette ;)

Albert Schweitzer said "In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit" I thank you all!
