Mother Earth

Tomorrow is Mothers' Day. I can't say I had a good relationship with my mother. She was orderly, strict, conventional. I am unruly, spontaneous.  During my younger years I was willing to follow orders but as I got older it became more difficult to conform to her rules. We disappointed each other over and over. I will always wish for things to have been different between us, but I find consolation in the fact that both my children and I are the best of friends.

We can't always get what we want or wish, the trick is to try and find the positive in what we do have. Albert Einstein said:

"Look deep into Nature, and then you will understand everything better"

and so I'm looking...

PS. I would like to thank those of you who, in spite of my sporadic entries, still find it in your hearts to read my Blog and leave encouraging, heartfelt comments. They mean more than you will ever know!  XO

  1. I had the same relationship with my mother. Albeit worse, I suspect.

Anyway, nice to see you blogging, Alina, and a very happy Mothers Day to you!

PS I may stay a while and listen to the lovely music :) xo

  2. Good morning. Somehow I had lost track of your blog when we had the big Blogger scare about how we were going to follow our favorite blogs, but this morning I started going through old comments and found you once again. My mom was very cold and unloving. But, as I have grown older, I understand that she just didn't know any better. Hoping your day is a special one.

  3. I remember you telling us before about the difficult relationship with your mother. These things stay with us don't they, but you have a good relationship with your children and that must gladden your heart.

    Happy Mother's Day Alina!

  4. Alina,
First of all, the "look deep into nature" quote is one of my favorites. I'm sorry you weren't as close to your mom as you would have liked. I was lucky enough to have a close relationship with my mom and dad, and the older I got, I appreciated my mom and everything she did to make our lives happy. That is nice that your kids are your best friends. Mine are as well, and there's nothing like it, is there?

I just love your blog posts, Alina. They are like a breath of fresh air to me.

    love,
    ~Sheri

  7. You know i'll bet there was a time in your mom's life when she thought you and she were the best of friends...... things change people change...... besides i don't think parents were meant to be friends with their children they were meant to parent...... just some thoughts. Hugs! deb

  9. Hi Alina,
I hope you see this message. I understand the need to be away from online activities for a while, but it is lovely to stop by and find your blog is still here with the calming music and the lovely post about mothers.
Sadly, I share the same feelings as you towards my mother. It is not easy to walk away, but sometimes you have too. Some relationships are too challenging within families. It is important to find happiness in what we have in the present and find joy in the little things in life!
Autumn Blessings and I hope you will return again soon to The Purple Caravan.
    Jo.
