You Never Know

"Listen, are you breathing just a little, and calling it a life?"
(Mary Oliver)

Lately, I have been setting aside a few moments every Sunday night and try to focus on my plans and objectives for the week about to start.  I don't want to to just through the motions, I want to see, feel, and enjoy everything.  Whether I'm doing something important or just running a simple errand, I intend to live!

I would like to share this very special poem I read some time ago. May your week start with a happy song and may you always remember to breathe deeply:

"You never know when someone
May catch a dream from you.
You never know when a little word
Or something you may do
May open up the windows
Of a mind that seeks the light-
The way you live may not matter at all,
But you never know -- it might.

And just in case it could be
That another's life, through you,
Might possibly change for the better
With a broader and brighter view,
It seems it might be worth a try
At pointing the way to the right -
Of course, it may not matter at all,
But then again -- it might..."

  2. It really does put stuff into focus when we take the time to think about what we want to accomplish, if it's within a day, a week or a lifetime.

    Some very wise words Alina!

  3. Oh, dear Alina, exactly, exactly, exactly! This post goes straight to my heart. Life seems to slip by way too fast, sometimes! Every once in a while, I've had a season where it's slowed down into golden hours but, I want to breathe it in and out much more. I KNOW that you know what I mean! Thanks for the encouragement!

    Love, Katy xo

  4. How lovely and worth meditating on for the coming week. We owe it to ourselves to find beauty and magic in everything we do.

  5. I so agree Alina. Each day should be enjoyed or appreciated to the full, whatever we are doing. The perfect thing to do on a Sunday evening is to take stock of recent events and plan for the week ahead and to just take a moment to breathe. Life can be so hectic but it's the small moments and memories that make it special. Thoughtful poem - our actions can so often have repercussions on other people.

Thank you as ever for your comment on my blog today Alina - always so well thought-out and considered - they make my day!

Albert Schweitzer said "In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit" I thank you all!
