Embers

"Poor summer, it doesn't know it's dying.
A few days are all it has. Still, the lake
is with me, its strokes of blue-violet
and the fiery sun replacing loneliness.

I feel like an animal that has found a place.
This is my burrow, my nest, my attempt
to say, I exist..."

(Embers by Henri Cole)

Yes, Summer is coming to an end. Long, carefree days will soon be replaced by shorter, busier ones. I scurry about like a squirrel, I don't want to miss a thing! There has been no need for an alarm clock, a rooster from a neighboring farm made sure I'd rise and shine quite early...and it's  crowing made me happy.

These past few days have been full of new adventures. I learnt to build and start a fire, got used to not having a computer or a dishwasher...and these newness made me happy.

I have met new friends, learned how does Poison Ivy look like, visited an old fashioned ice cream parlor with a selection so large, they actually have a menu, and just yesterday, I realized I no longer scream or jump when I see a Daddy Longleg spider...and this new found courage made me happy.

I hope you too enjoyed a special Summer full of magic and new lessons. May the memories last, and may the sun's dying embers keep you warm on the coming cool nights.

Tomorrow I shall go back to the Purple Caravan for a few more days, till my return, thank you SO MUCH for your lovely comments, I wish you all a beautiful weekend.

Hugs!

  4. Your summer sounds wonderful Alina - full of new and exciting experiences. Your very own Purple Caravan is proving that dreams can come true - you were looking for something - and you found it (or it found you) in such an amazing way. Enjoy the embers of summer and I look forward to your return.

Thank you for taking the time to pop over to mine - it was lovely hearing from you.

  6. Alina, I can relate to your post in so many good ways! :-)
You have a rooster that wakes you up early.
I have a Zigsa cat. He wakes me at five every morning. :-o
I have recently had a new dishwasher too and it made me smile as well. I love modern technology.
We have loads of spiders in our new home. I have now made peace with them just like you have!
I also feel it is the end of the summer. The weather has not been great and mostly rain here. Roll on Autumn and the magic!
Lovely to visit you and read your fun post.
    Jo. xx

  7. Alina,
This is too weird. I think you and I are in tune with each other. We have just left comments at the same time! :-D
Turquoise and gold is now the colour scheme in my bedroom. I'm obsessed with the colour!
    Hugs back at you.

  9. Wonderful to enjoy the summer first and rejuvenate. Poison ivy is something to remember. Their leaves seem harmless enough but...

  10. Indeed summer is quickly fading ... soon to be a blissful memory. The days have turned much cooler here and I find myself much like you... diligently "squirreling" away as much produce from the garden that I can before the first frost ravages our harvest. I also find myself "nesting" ... and the chilly temperatures have me in search of slippers and fuzzy sweaters to ward off the chill!

I envy you for your newly found courage of spiders ... even if the therapy has started with the Daddy Long Legs!! I fear I shall never be cured of this phobia!! :O

  12. how true, Summer is on its way out here, but the start of September has been hot and sunny. An Indian Summer perhaps? the spiders are coming inside the house now its getting colder, but I dont mind. The trees are heavy with berries, the birds are flocking so Autumn is making its merry way here... we will all feel like hibernating soon... what a lovely idea. Take care Alina xxx

  18. Hi Alina,

I missed a post!!!! Happy me to discover it, today! =] It's a beautiful thing, too. It feels as if you're the heroine in some novel that I would love to read. I want to say that my favorite bit was about the ice cream but all of your words take me to some place that I love - is it this time of year? camp, perhaps? childlikeness? something happy like that!

I have to laugh, too, because, just two weeks ago, we had several encounters with Daddy Longlegs and the boys would come running all out of breath. Every year, it seems, we have to rediscover them.

Well, I've been thinking that I should just come and check and see if I had missed something and tell you that I miss you a bit (QUITE a bit) but that I'm happy for you because I am SURE that you're living - not a virtual life - a reality life. Then, something that I saw on a photo blog made me run over here with a link. It's from last year's fashion week in NY. It's the Ralph Lauren offering. I think that he was inspired by gypsies and flamenco dancers - I wonder if you would love it as much as I did!

Here's the link, I don't think that it will work in the comments section but you can copy it into your address box-thingy.

    Hope that life is wonderful!!!

Albert Schweitzer said "In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit" I thank you all!
