Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced "bouquet")


It's been said there is bound to be a "Hyacinth" in every family. We certainly have one in ours! Watching Keeping Up Appearances has been a Saturday night ritual with me for years. I would not miss it for the world! Irritating, an absolute snob and yet, she lures me in everytime. Could it be her uncanny resemblance to my mother? Hum, maybe....

In any case, here I am tonight. Giggling and enjoying every single minute of this great show. British comedies, there is nothing like them!

    I agree with you Alina...I miss the traditional English comedies. We don't seem to have many of them anymore... I find Hyacinth quite irritating but she is fascinating and funny!;)

    I LOVE Hyacinth.... I watch her on the re-runs here back in England.. as you say Alina we all know someone like this. Just to let you know that Patricia Routledge is a terrific 'straight' actress and is doing theatre in London, i believe. She has retired from the tv (so i hear). You should get the 'Hetty Wainthrope Investigates' DVD's (British of course) absolutely brilliant. Also the Alan Bennett 'Talking Heads' dvd.. she is on those as well. Ciao Olive
